Nestled in the Wetterstein mountain range, the Karwendel Alpine Park and the Wildmoos landscape conservation area, the Seefeld region – Tyrol’s high plateau – is considered the ideal ‘base camp’ for anyone who simply wants to experience ‘more’. Around 650 km of marked hiking, mountain and via ferrata routes, awarded the Mountain Trail and Hiking Trail Seal of Quality, and over 60 managed huts and alpine pastures, together with the magnificent mountain backdrop, guarantee wonderful hiking experiences on the sunny Seefeld high plateau.
On the sunny plateau at an altitude of 1,180 metres, Seefeld offers hikes to picturesque vantage points such as the Pfarrerbichl or tours in high alpine terrain such as the Seefeld Königstour.
Hiking is not only a great way to experience the nature and beauty of Tyrol, but also offers many health benefits. Hiking can help reduce stress and improve physical fitness. It is also a great way to spend time outdoors. Overall, Tyrol offers incredible scenery and a variety of hiking trails for active holidaymakers. If you travel to Seefeld, you should definitely try out some of the hiking trails.
For sport and relaxation during your hiking holiday in Tyrol, Hotel Eden Seefeld offers special hiking packages. Take a look at our summer packages in Seefeld!
Our in-house ‘active corner’ has Nordic walking poles available exclusively for you, which will accompany you on your explorations in and around Seefeld. Take a brisk walk around the Wildsee in the morning and spend the afternoon in the Eden Spa. Sounds good? We think so too. Anyone who thinks that Nordic walking poles are only for older people or exclusively for leisurely walks is very much mistaken. Poles are essential equipment, especially for challenging hikes. They provide additional support, help you climb high peaks and also act as a ‘brake’ when walking downhill. In the mountains, they are a must-have!

4 insider hiking tips in Seefeldin Seefeld in Tyrol
Whether you’re looking for a leisurely stroll around Wildsee lake or a challenging mountain tour with panoramic views, the Seefeld region in Tyrol has the perfect route for every hiking enthusiast. Our four insider tips will take you to some of nature’s real highlights, idyllic alpine pastures and spectacular views. Ideal for beginners, advanced hikers and experienced mountaineers – discover the diversity of Tyrol at every turn!
To warm up Loop around the Wildsee lake
Start your hike at Seefeld village square and follow the path to the main road, then turn right along Wildsee lake. Passing Seestüberl restaurant, you will reach the Seefeld Kneipp facility, then continue into the ‘squirrel forest’, where the tame rodents enjoy being fed (tip: always take a few nuts with you). The trail then leads along the southern shore past the Seefeld-Reith golf course and back to Seefeld. The Strandperle café/restaurant with its wonderful sun terrace and swimming facilities in the summer months is a great place to stop for refreshments by the lake.
Duration: approx. 50 minutes
For the advanced: via the Schönangersteig trail to the Reither Alm
Take the funicular railway from the valley station to the Rosshütte mountain station. Once at the top, cross the pass to the Lifthüttl. Follow the path to Latschen to reach the Reither Kar. You need to be careful here, as the terrain is somewhat more challenging. After a short climb up to the Hochanger, the path leads downhill again across the ski slope to the Reither Alm. From there, a forest path leads towards Seefeld. The difficulty level for this tour is medium to difficult.
Duration: approx. 3.5 hours
The "challenging" tour: the royal tour
This hike leads from Seefelder Joch to Seefelder Spitze (2,220 m) with a 360° view of the Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains, as well as the Stubai Alps and north to Bavaria. It then continues to Reither Spitze at a lofty 2,373 metres to the Nördlinger Hut. This hike is very challenging. You must therefore have a head for heights and be sure-footed, as there are some difficult sections in the high alpine terrain up to the Reither Spitze where you are only secured by wire ropes or have to climb a ladder. A few minutes later, you will reach the Nördlinger Schutzhütte. From there, it is about 45 minutes to the Härmelekopfbahn cable car, which will take you to the Rosshütte mountain station.
Duration: approx. 3 hours (pure hiking time)
The "popular" route: Geisterklamm Loops
The Geisterklamm Loops is one of the most popular trails in the Seefeld region. On this trail, you will encounter waterfalls flowing through the gorge before arriving at the summit of the mountain. The view from the top is simply breathtaking. For experienced hikers, the Seefelder Joch Trail is a great choice. This trail leads through the mountains and offers incredible views of the surrounding peaks. The trail is more challenging than the Geisterklamm Trail, but the effort is well worth it. For those who prefer a more leisurely hike, the nature trail offers a great opportunity to explore the region’s nature and wildlife. The nature trail is divided into different themed areas, including animals, plants, and geology.
Whether you are an experienced hiker or a beginner, there is a trail to suit you. So lace up your hiking boots and experience the beauty of Tyrol for yourself.
