Sustainabilityat Hotel Eden Seefeld

Thinking Long-Term
Hotel Eden was founded in 1929 and has been under the same ownership since 1962. This long-term commitment means that environmental responsibility and the careful use of resources are integral parts of our strategic planning.
Clear Priorities
In 2025, Hotel Eden conducted its first materiality assessment to identify the environmental issues most relevant to its operations. The key priorities identified were water, energy and greenhouse gas emissions, the impacts of climate change, as well as resource management and waste.
Building Knowledge and Reliable Data
Strategic decisions require reliable data. Hotel Eden therefore voluntarily collects sustainability data in accordance with the European VSME standard, starting with four pilot properties in 2025. To support this process, employees have received specialised training, including a course on the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) at ARS and a programme on environmental data calculation at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (BOKU).
From Foundations to Strategy
Based on the findings of the materiality assessment and the collected data, Hotel Eden is developing its sustainability strategy. In January 2026, key areas of action were defined, including energy, building renovation, climate change adaptation and mobility. Strategic initiatives are being developed specifically for these areas and the relevant business operations.
Energy
Hotel Eden sources its electricity from renewable energy. The installation of a photovoltaic (solar power) system is also planned.
Buildings and Heat Management
Summers are becoming increasingly hot. To address this challenge, we actively manage sun protection measures throughout the hotel. Blackout options and sunshading systems are used in guest rooms and public areas to reduce heat buildup caused by direct sunlight.
Water and Outdoor Areas
Water management is one of Hotel Eden's most important environmental priorities. In our outdoor areas, we plant heat-tolerant trees and shrubs and adapt lawn maintenance practices to changing climatic conditions.
Sustainable Mobility
Guests at Hotel Eden have access to electric vehicle charging facilities. Seefeld railway station is conveniently located just a few minutes' walk from the hotel, making arrival by public transport an attractive alternative.
Purchasing and Cleaning
Hotel Eden pays particular attention to product origin and environmental standards when purchasing goods and services.
Whenever possible, our hotel kitchen uses ingredients sourced from Austrian suppliers. Hotel Eden has been awarded the "Bewusst Tirol" label, recognising its commitment to regional products. Our cleaning products carry the Austrian Ecolabel (Österreichisches Umweltzeichen).
Bed linen and table linen are professionally cleaned by Greif Mietwäsche, a laundry service provider that reports on sustainability based on the GRI Content Index.
Our Employees
Our Employees At Hotel Eden, women and men receive equal pay for equal work. Continuous professional development is an integral part of our approach, including training in emerging areas such as sustainability and sustainability reporting. Our employees regularly participate in documented training sessions covering topics such as waste separation, the correct use and dosage of cleaning products, and effective sunshading measures.
